DCIS provides health insurance for UBC international students, faculty & staff, and other official affiliates (for example: visiting scholars and people doing a post-doctorate fellowship).
Please Note that your affiliation status at UBC will determine your eligibility for one of the following two plans:
Health Insurance for New International Students
Most new international students who register for classes at UBC will be automatically enrolled for iMED Health Insurance for New International Students. In this case the premium is a part of your student fees. Please visit the iMED Website for more information.
Global Campus Health Plan
UBC faculty and staff (including people conducting a post doctorate fellowship), and students who do not qualify for the iMED Plan(such second year international students and Canadian dual citizens who are new to BC and register as a domestic student) may purchase coverage on the Global Campus Health Plan which offers the same top quality health insurance benefits as the iMED Plan and for the same low cost. Visit the Global Campus Health Plan website for information and application forms.
For people who will qualify for the BC Medical Services Plan the Global Campus Plan is intended to cover the interim waiting period which is usually the first three calender months from your arrival date in BC.
If you have questions, please contact DCIS, or call at 604-228-8816 or at 1-800-818-3188 (toll free in Canada and the U.S.A.).
