Welcome to Global Campus Health Plan
the Student Insurance division of David Cummings Insurance Services (DCIS).

Why do I need health insurance?

Your health and well-being are extremely important.
If you suffer a sickness or injury, the most important thing is for you to get the proper medical attention. Without health insurance, the cost of medical services could limit your access to medical care or leave you with a large debt to pay.
UBC policy requires that, as an international student, you have basic health insurance for the entire duration of your studies at UBC. If you are bringing family, they should also have adequate health insurance during their stay in Canada.

DCIS provides competitive temporary* hospital and medical insurance options for UBC students who are new to BC and who do not qualify for the UBC iMED Plan.  (Most new international students who register for classes at UBC will be automatically enroled on iMED Health Insurance for New International Students.)

*Students who will reside in BC for six or more months (on a Study Permit) should apply for the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) which is the government funded health plan that is mandatory for all BC residents.

Students not eligible for BC MSP should purchase temporary health insurance for their entire time of study in Canada.

Note to UBC employees, visiting instructors, and post-doctorate fellows who need temporary hospital and medical coverage:
Please contact DCIS for a quotation of a 'non-student' medical insurance plan.
