Enrollment

Who can apply for coverage?

International students (including practicum students and interns) registered for part-time or full-time study at Vancouver Community College are eligible to purchase the Global Campus Health Plan (GCHP). You must be under age 70 to apply for this plan.

If you have a spouse and/or dependent children who will reside with you in Canada you may apply to have them covered as dependents on your policy if they meet the following definition of Dependent:

Dependent:

  • The spouse or common law spouse (including same sex) of a primary Insured Person (but excluding those legally separated), and under the age of seventy (70).
  • Unmarried children, step-children, foster children and legally adopted children, who are dependent on the primary Insured Person for support, provided that such children are not less than fifteen (15) days old (unless birth of newborn is an insured event under this policy in which case newborn is insured under Maternity Benefit to the 15th day of birth) and are under the age of nineteen (19) years old (or under the age of twenty-five (25) years old provided it can be proven that the child is continuing in full-time education).
  • Unmarried children, step-children, foster children and legally adopted children, who are dependent on the primary Insured Person for support due to physical or mental disability.
